Earth and space

"Earthrise" from Apollo 8, Dec 24 1968

40 years ago Man set foot on another celestial object for the first time, in the single most important event in human history. The first Moon landing inspired a sense of unity, shared purpose, and common destiny -- a destiny of space exploration and adventure.

We must again turn to this endeavour, with a unified spirit, so that we may make new discoveries, better understand our place in the Universe, and protect the existence of earthly life in the desolate vastness of space.

With a renewed focus on this common goal humanity can overcome the differences and conflicts that have marred us for so long, and become true stewards of spaceship Earth.

Imagine how far we might have come in these 40 years had we joined forces around this vision.

What will we make of the next 40 years?

Earth Hour in the darkness

May the shared darkness of Earth Hour remind us of the dark vastness of Space through which our planet travels in solitude, and bring to our collective consciousness how truly fragile and unique our Pale Blue Dot is.

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 24, 2008:

That as the Earth begins another cycle of its elliptical path in the vastness of space, while darkness subsides and the Sun returns to the cold North, we will find unity and serenity in our shared destiny.

The longest night has passed, and winter solstice is behind us. The Sun is slowly returning with new life and new hope, like so many times before.

May the growing light bring unity and serenity in the new year!

Mind and reality

Posted on Dec 2nd, 2008 by Geir : Unifier Geir
The mental processes of an individual cannot be separated from the physical structures of the brain. Similarly, on a molecular level there is no actual separation between an organism and its surroundings. Hence, what we think directly affects our surroundings, and we can therefore, to a greater or lesser extent, change reality by changing our minds.

Conversely, our environment greatly affects our minds. In sum, there is a continuous, dynamic exchange of impressions between mind and matter that changes the fabric of reality.

What's the best thing about living in this era?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 08, 2008:

The unprecedented potential for unity in spirit and vision -- not only for humankind but for life itself, wherever it may exist. For the first time we can all come together, share our experiences and dreams, explore our belief systems and develop a unified set of values -- eventually overcoming our common challenges for the good of the planet... www.wewillsavetheworld.org
